Northern Landscapes

90.00

The greenest parts of NYC just a got a little greener now that two parks in Upper Manhattan & The Bronx are connected by The High Bridge. Join us as we take advantage of the autumn foliage and explore some of the city's best natural landscapes.

We’ll ride through Harlem and up to Hamilton Heights & Sugar Hill before reaching Highbridge Park. The newly reopened Roman-style aqueduct bridge offers spectacular views, and a nice snack break, before taking us into The Bronx.

Once in The Bronx, we’ll visit beautiful Bronx Community College and the Hall of Fame for Great Americans; this former NYU campus is positioned up on a hill with breathtaking views and gorgeous architecture. We’ll ride by Edgar Allen Poe’s country cottage and then through funky Fordham Avenue, which truly provides a sense of the fascinating dichotomies that exist in The Bronx.

We'll visit Arthur Avenue Market in Belmont, NYC's most vibrant Little Italy. In a setting reminiscent of old New York, the market offers fresh produce, imported olive oil, hand-rolled cigars, and some of the best pizza, pasta, and deli sandwiches found in the city, making it an ideal stop to satisfy our hard-earned hunger. After lunch, we'll ride on to the Gun Hill Brewery to witness brewing operations and enjoy one of their award winning microbrews.

We'll finish the day by riding down through the South Bronx to see what made the area such a 'no-go-zone' for all those years, and what is is becoming of 'SoBro' today. You'll be amazed by the number of community gardens and innovative revitalization projects. In many ways, the South Bronx can be seen as an incubator for some of the urban renewal projects to come in NYC, and it's always a beautiful thing to witness the beginnings of positive change in the big city.
