Getaway from New York’s islands for the weekend and join us as we venture in to the North American mainland, aka Da Bronx! The weekend begins on Saturday morning at the end of the #1 train as we explore some of the most beautiful natural landscapes the city has to offer. Riverdale & Wave Hill will take your breath away as you gaze across the Hudson at the Palisades.
We’ll spend Saturday exploring New York’s two biggest parks, Van Cortlandt & Pelham Bay. Sandwiched in between, we’ll make a stop in Belmont, New York’s true Little Italy, where enjoy the great (syn) food Arthur Avenue has to offer.
You’ll be shocked that we’re still in New York City when we end the day in City Island, which has the feel of an old New England fishing town. Here, we’ll enjoy some of the best seafood the city has to offer, as well as a quaint B&B to get your R&R for the evening.
After a light breakfast, we’ll return to ‘the mainland’ where our Bronx explorations continue. The tudor-style apartment houses of Pellham Bay soon give way to the South Bronx, and area steeped in history as well as modern transition.
We’ll get a feel for the South Bronx of the distant past, the more recent difficulties, and the transition, which is well underway. Our time in South Bronx will conclude with a late brunch, in an area that real estate agents hope to call SoBro one day.
