Cozy Lower Manhattan & Brooklyn
So warm, the snow rArely sticks!
The hustle-and-bustle of NYC's downtowns surely has a warming effect. The taxis & buses, the swarming pedestrians & the steam discharging from down below, all help to shield the city streets from the frigid winter temperatures. Experience the warmth and excitement of some of the busiest parts of town, while flowing seamlessly and safely through it all.
And, for those moments when we begin to feel a chill, the prevalence of fascinating (indoor!) stops along this route make it easy to comfort the core before getting back in the saddle for more exploration. Take in waterfront views of the harbor while warming up in the Winter Garden. Experience the neighborly spirit of Greenwich Village as we sip hot coffee in one of many hip coffee shops. Or, stop for a beer (and other artisanal refreshments) surrounded by the residential hominess in and around downtown Brooklyn.
Weaving our way through The Village, SoHo, & Tribeca, we'll explore Lower Manhattan's most desirable neighborhoods. The sights, sounds, and smells of Chinatown & Little Italy will surely awaken your senses. Winding our way south, we'll see why the excitement and action in the Financial District is becoming more than just men in suits. And, after taking in all that downtown Manhattan has to offer, we'll experience the heights of the Brooklyn Bridge before heading into the next downtown.
Moving away from the waterfront, we'll ride up Brooklyn's glacial moraine (don't worry, its much warmer these days!) and experience the comfort and charm that has made the borough so appealing. Today, the next hot tech start up sits above an active iron foundry from a bygone era. A mom-and-pop bakery, around for decades, shares a block with a vintage clothing store opened just last week. And, America's oldest steam generated power plant is increasingly surrounded by modern art. This is the ever-changing Brooklyn: the city's hottest place to live and work, home to so many recent transplants, yet still alive with the hospitality radiating from the stoops of so many longtime residents. The hot 'hoods of BK are sure to sooth your soul before we make the breathtaking trip back over the Manhattan Bridge.
This ride covers many of the must-see sights and spectacular views the city has to offer. And, nestled in between, sheltered from the winter temperatures (at least, somewhat!), we'll discover gems hidden amidst America's densest downtowns. Be sure to dress properly, and we'll take care of the rest! Come see why NYC is truly a winter wonderland by bike.
